Essay in Water~Stone Review

I have a brief essay in the newest issue of Water~Stone Review, published by Hamline University. The essay is called “People in Cars Outside the Coin Laundry,” and it’s only 300 words, so I’d call it flash nonfiction. The text isn’t online, but here’s the issue link. The editors at WSR were great! It’s a nice journal.

MFA Faculty Reading

On Saturday, November 12 at 6:00 p.m., I’ll be part of the University of Alaska Fairbanks MFA Faculty Reading. It’s being facilitated by the Fairbanks Arts Association. It’s taking place at the Bear Gallery in Pioneer Park (no remote broadcast). My colleagues Gerri Brightwell (Turnback Ridge) and Sara Eliza Johnson (Vapor) are celebrating the release of their new books, so Daryl Farmer and I will be keeping our readings brief.

Essay in The Sun

My personal essay “Ten Years Sober” appears in the July 2022 issue of The Sun. Because it takes so long to write, edit, and publish work, I’m now actually 14 years sober. Lucky me, this is the second essay of mine to appear in The Sun. Both times, I received generous help from Senior Editor Andrew Snee and the whole editorial team.

Library Reading / Q&A

The Rasmuson Library at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is hosting a Golden Heart Parade book launch, which will include readings and a Q&A. Librarian Genova Brooks Boyd has been really generous in proposing the idea and planning everything. It’s scheduled for Wednesday, November 17, 1–2:30pm Alaska time. It will be on Zoom, and I believe the recording will be released later.
